Black woman-owned company pioneers in the olive oil industry.

When I think of the use of cooking olive oil, I think of the cooking shows and informercials that started to flood TV screens everywhere. Now they’re just a way of life from magazines to Food Network. For the longest time I didn’t know what EVOO was. This was a very popular phrase used by the TV celebrity chef that Oprah Winfrey propelled, Rachel Ray. Through her show she always started her recipes with adding a little EVOO. I was thinking, “OMG!!! What is that flavor liquid?”

Well, you guessed it. EVOO is the cookers code for Extra Virgin Olive Oil. WOW!!! I know, super simple. As I researched more, I was completely unaware of the health benefits of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

According to HealthLine.com, Extra virgin olive oil is loaded with heart-healthy fats and antioxidants, making it a great addition to a nutritious diet. It has also been linked to a long list of benefits and may protect against inflammation, heart disease, breast cancer, and type 2 diabetes.

Of course, health benefits are even better when it comes with good flavor, and it does. With an industry on the rise that ranges into the billions, you never hear of anyone starting an olive oil company - until now. Chasity Pritchett is the founder and owner of Emblem Extra Virgin & Infused Olive Oil. This is one of the first and only black woman-lowned businesses I ever came across. I was fortunate enough to make contact with her and we met for the first time at a business conference.

I was so excited that she personally brought me bottle of the Good Stuff. Yes! A bottle of their popular Smoked Mesquite Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Well, just like the hot sauce commercial, “I PUT THAT… ON EVERYTHING!!” Two things really stood out to me about the product. First, it was the aroma!! It smelled up the kitchen with yum-yum. Then, OMG!!! The pour spout was designed so I wouldn’t spill a drop! Straight genius!!! All these years, I’ve used EVOO from other places and it was really sloppy with oil running down the bottle. It’s like watching money drip from your pockets, but not mine.

I must say that using EVOO that received from a unique business is like cooking with rare artifacts from a royal kitchen. Ohh, did I mention that celebrity personality, Tabatha Brown also uses their product because she does.

So, with that being said. Well done. Well done indeed.
